Help Out Whers My Pants

[Well Hung Hungarian Midget Pirate]

he is trying to set up a file server on mirc, using polaris se. the same problem happened to anarCKY. they got it set up, but their firewall(anarcky almost for sure ) is not letting them connect. what we need is to know how to bypass the firewall in mIRC, so they can use their fileserver. anyhelp is appriciated

My Computer >> Control Panel >> Network And Interent Connections >> Network Connections >> On the left right click the icon and select the 'advanced' tab >> click on/off and then hit ok >> Done

I would rather use a firewall then constantly be hacked. Zone Alarm Blocks over 100 intrusions a day for me.

You're dumb then. I turned my firewall off and uninstalled Zonealarm and my computer runs better than it did when they were active.

I've never been "hacked" in my life, and if I have been, it caused zero interruptions or problems for me in any way. In the end they are just more things to slow your computer down.

You obviously have little knowledge of how computers work then. Unless your on a 56k then a good firewall is a must. And I really hope you dont use a p2p without a firewall because if you do then your just plain retarded.

With firewalls, the cons outweigh the pros. They suck up processing power and internet speed, restrict you from doing certain things (an example would be whers my pants's problem in this very thread), and give you one more thing to worry about in life.

Well unless you have a piece of shit computer with a piece of shit connection then the effects are not even noticable. And about behing paranoid, I buy a lot of stuff off the net using credit cards and ebay, I would rather use 1mb of ram then have this information stolen.

Most of those "intrusions" are most likely just pings set to ports that you have blocked. Just because someone pings you doesnt mean your going to be hacked. Even if you have a firewall you can still be hacked. Most of the hackers out there arent going to fucking bother with some ones personal computer, its the stupid fucking script kiddies that you need to worry about.
Unless you keep your credit card numbers on your computer or use auto-complete,a random "hacker" isn't going to get your credit card numbers. Plus the "hacker" could still intercept the information intransit, in which case your firewall did nothing.

Anyways if wheres_my_pants can modify which ports are being blocked he just needs to find out which ports that the fserve uses then just open traffic to them other than that I'm not sure what would help.
