View Full Version : I Need Help With My New Ipod

Okay, here's the deal. I finally got an Ipod a couple of days ago (yay!), and I've been ripping my CDs and MP3s on it and having a great time with it.

Well, I'm not one of you l337 kids with several hundred gig computer hard drives so I want to delete the actual MP3s and AAC files off of my computer once they're on the Ipod.

What I've failed to find an answer to is this...If I delete those songs off of my computer and then do another sync (I have it where as soon as I attach the Ipod to my computer it syncs) will all of my songs be deleted from the Ipod? If so, is there a way to make this not happen?

I'm stupid at this stuff, so sorry if that made no sense. And once again, sorry that I'm asking this here. I couldn't find an answer anywhere else and I know several of you have one.

i dont have an Ipod are anything but i gather u just transfer the files and the Harddrive on the Ipod will hold them :s...

Using common sense, I'm guessing that deleting songs from your HDD will not delete them from your Ipod? But thats just a wild guess, based on the fact that its 2 seperate items with two seperate HDDs.

Yea, that was my assumption too. So I just decided to live dangerously and see what would happen after I deleted them all. It looks like as long as the songs are listed in Itunes I'm all good. :) They only get deleted from the 'pod if I move the song from my list.

I was wondering the same thing. My hard drive with my music crashed, so I gotta re-collect all my music from my CDs and rip them on my computer.

why dont u just turn that auto sync thing off, if u get a new song, just put it onto the ipod manually, dont need some automatic thing for it.
