i got a new deck today, new to me anyway, it's an old school from 1989, it's the hawk model with the decorated grip tape featuring a lot of vision street wear logos and a skeleton emerging from a pair of wings in the center of it. We found it behind the 4ft quarter at a skatepark in a local town, somone apparently just left it, the deck is in relatively good condition to be 15 years old, minimal graphics wear, with the exception of a few pressure cracks it's in pretty good shape. Does anyone know if it's worth anything, or should I just skate it?

Hey.. I usually ride Toy Machine 7.625 decks, and I just started seeing these "Mystery" decks that I'm really digging. How deep is the concave on this deck? I usually ride the "Small Fists" deck, it has a nice small concave. I don't want anything too deep.
Anyone also know how the concave is on the Zero John Allie deck?

awesome deck so far. good concave, shape is decent, light, strong, the whole shebang. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. it is by far the best deck i have ever purchased. made in the USA. ***** out of 5.

click my sig and buy one. good stuff. itll be at your house in a week or two, depending on where you live. if you live near the canada/USA border, itll take only a couple days.

Bones REDS are the best popularly priced bearings you can buy. REDS were developed to be an affordable alternative to Bones Swiss. They feature ground and superfinished chromium steel balls and races, a high speed, removable nylon ball retainer, Bones Speed Cream lubricant and a removable, non-contact, frictionless red rubber shield. This combination of Skate Rated™ design, quality components and careful quality control makes them faster, smoother and longer lasting than any other skateboard bearing in their price range, so let the good times roll with Bones REDS.

· Strong
· Fast
· Longer Lasting
· Pre-Lubricated with Speed Cream™
· Easy Cleaning & Relubricating
· Removable High Speed Nylon Ball Cage
· Non-contact, Removable Rubber Shield
· Bones Skate Rated™ Design & Quality*

Each package comes with set of 8 bearings, pre-lubed with Speed Cream, instructions and a sticker.

*All Bones Bearings are Skate Rated™ to withstand the destructive forces created by high performance skating. This is our way of saying that just using a bearing with an ABEC rating is not enough to ensure that a bearing will perform well for skating, since ABEC ratings were intended for electric motor bearings, not skate bearings. We have adjusted the tolerances, clearances, lubricant, and component materials to optimize Bones Bearings for use in dirty, high impact environments... where you skate. That's why they roll faster and last longer than mere ABEC rated bearings.

yeah reds are the best

NOOO! DO NOT GET SPEED METAL BEARINGS!!

They are by far the worst bearings I have ever ridden, and I'm not over exaggerating. When I got them, on my second day of using them, 2 of the bearings' shields poped.
By the end of one week of use, they were in the same condition my Reds are after at least a month.
Bones Reds bearings are the best by far. They last for ages, have good tolerance to impact and are cheap ($30au).

ForeignObjects

I had lucky titaniums abec 7 which were fast as hell but the shields popped after standing on the side of the board "reemo slide" style. I now have world grenade abec 5 which are really good quality.

I'm not even sponsored. I just get discounts on some decks. There's so much talent in the area where I live, it's insane. If you guys think i'm good for my age, you should see some of these kids.

haha, that deck was like 6 months old, that was the spare I would use during the time that my current board snaps and before I get a new one.
My boards last me at least 3 week, 4 - 5 on average.
I would never snap or throw a board that was less than 2 weeks old.

This should be in the trick tip help thread...
But I will try and help you as easily as possible.
1) Set your feet the same as you would for a kickflip
2) Wind up your arms (to help you get the full rotation)
3) Pop it and wait until it get's a little less than half way around then kick down
4) Catch it and continue rotation until you land
5) roll away

Easy enough?

Can you bs flip? If you can it's not that much different except you should concentrate more on your turning and less with the flip with fs flips. If you can't you should do them first, there easier. But for fs you don't really need to focus on your fliping cause your turning into your flip. Focus on spining 180 degrees fs, cause it's obviously a little harder then turning bs. Suck your legs up real high too, to give you enough room to spin. And don't stop turning untill your wheels hit the ground cause a lot of time you think you've spun 180 degrees but you've only spun 100 or so, causing them to look like shit.

EDIT: I just noticed this is in the new skateboard thread. I guess I'm used o having the trick tip thread at the top...?

Surely that would only be if you did a body varial as well? I'm not saying you are wrong, nor can I describe what a 180 Hardflip would look like, but I have heard the term "180 Hardflip" mentioned a few times before, so I think it does exist....

01-10-2005, 06:47 PM
A hardflip is a f/s varial no matter how you want to look at it or do it. If you do a hardflip with a body varial I still don't think it would be a 180 hardflip.

Sorry guys, but JCM is right. A hardflip is a FS varial flip. Whether is goes up and spins between your legs or rotates totally horizontally, it is still a hard flip.

Calling it a completely different trick just because it rotates 45 degrees closer to the horizon it ridiculous.
Just like when people do pop shove its. Good skaters make the board rotate horizontally, while shit skaters make the board rotate on an axis because they are too shit to pop the back trucks up.
Different trick? I think not.

Edit: Shit, I should actually read before I post. The thing was does a 180 hardflip exist? No it doesn't. Like JCM said, it would just be a frontside flip.
I suppose you could call it a 180 Hardflip, because technically, that is what it is, but the proper name is a frontside kickflip or frontside flip.

psc01

young_gun
01-16-2005, 12:22 PM
Yeah, a hardflip is a fs varial flip. A long time ago I spent ages doing fs varial flips and hardflips on a tech deck to see if they were different tricks. The only difference is the closeness to the vertical axis, but that just depends on how you do the trick, a hardflip doesn't have to be vertical. Try doin them with your hands on your board, you'll notice how they're the same.
edit: Just looking back on that picture spicerack posted though, he's doing a 180 there and it's not a fs flip (not a normal one at least), what else would it be?

nah, there is. the board goes almost vertical, instead of staying pretty much horizontal. basically the same trick, just with more of a credit card risk.
I don't even know where to start with that one. A "180 hardflip" is absoloutely no different that an FS Flip. No matter at what incline your board flips on an FS flip, technically it's always a 180 hardflip. The only difference is to get that flip that folds a little more than flipping horizontal you just have to flip it and catch your board at a full 180*, if you catch it just slightly further than 90*, it will stays relatively horrizontal. Aside from what your thinking (FS Flip with a folding flip), there is; in fact, an actual 180 hardflip. It is done BS, though. See PJ Ladds Wonderfull Horrible Life (Second Trick) for refference.

Edit: Ah crap, I didn't see the last page.. I guess this is kind of useless now.
