GAHANNA, Ohio (AP) -- A 13-year-old boy who wanted to make his own version of "Jackass: The Movie" threw a cup of boiling water on his best friend as he slept, causing second-degree burns, police said.

Collin Gaffney was charged with felony assault.

Police Lt. Jeff Spence said Gaffney videotaped the May 19 incident and others in earlier weeks. The boy told police he planned to make his own movie of pranks similar to "Jackass," a movie version of the defunct MTV show.

Gaffney and other boys from this Columbus suburb appear throughout the hourlong video of pranks and stunts. Spence said no one was hurt in the rest of the tape.

The MTV show and movie included a warning against trying stunts at home.

Gaffney's mother, Bernadean Decicco, said she didn't know that the boys were imitating "these stupid TV shows."

"They did many stunts that Collin could have been killed at. Fortunately, he didn't get hurt," she said.

The maximum penalty he could receive in juvenile court is confinement in a youth detention center until age 21.

The father of 14-year-old Shaka Townsend said Collin has apologized, but the Townsend family still decided to press charges.

"We felt that grounding was not appropriate to handle this," Townsend said. "We thought the authorities needed to handle it, that it needed to be official

While you can't deny that Jackass or CKY inspires proably about 95% of the people to do the stunts I feel that this kid is a stupid shit and it is mostly his fault. Everyone was giving the kid who jumped off the building a hard time saying he was a dumb fuck but I kind of felt sorry for him. I'm sure that all of you guys have tried that stuff and wouldn't want the whole internet world talking about you. If he would have landed in the pool it would have be sweet and that would be it. The point I'm trying to make is that at least that stunt had the potential to be unharmful, this fuck head used BOILING water, what the hell did he think was going to happen, there is no way that could end with everybody just laughing because I for one would be pissed as fuck. But my opinion still stands. The kid is a dumbass for doing it, but there is still some correlation between him doing it, and him watching CKY and Jackass. There just isn't any getting around it. This is a problem that is going to continue while jackass and CKY are the new big thing. Its the same thing that happened when the WWF started getting big.. kids everywhere started smacking their other retarded little 10 year old friends with chairs, and jumping off houses into eachother. It was pretty stupid for them to do it, but you can't deny that it was because of the WWF.

Yeah, I heard about this too. Unfortunately, I too am from Ohio and I can tell you that there are a lot of retards in this state. I do wanna make my own video, but I'm smart enough to know that HOT WATER BURN BABY! And even if I did want to use boiling water, I'd pour it on myself.
